Zelenskyy announces 'significant news' coming next week

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a new defense agreement is being prepared with one of the European countries. The news is expected to be announced as soon as next week, he made this statement during his evening address.
The head of state noted that Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha today reported on tasks in the European direction, while diplomats from the President’s Office provided updates on the status of defense negotiations.
"Our diplomats also reported on our defense agreements with one of the countries. We are preparing significant news for next week with one of our European partners," Zelenskyy said.
The President also spoke about his conversation with Finnish President Alexander Stubb. According to him, the sides discussed joint efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and coordinate positions regarding communication with the United States.
"I am grateful that Finland, and President Stubb personally, always support us greatly. We discussed communication with America, coordinated our positions, and this always helps. We also discussed joint opportunities here in Europe to quickly strengthen our air defense," Zelenskyy emphasized.
New Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting
NATO’s press service announced a new meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on October 2. It was convened by Germany and the United Kingdom and will take place tomorrow, October 15.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said that the priority topic of discussion at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting would be strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.
At the same time, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that new announcements regarding arms supplies to Ukraine through NATO’s PURL program are expected this week. This program involves purchasing weapons from the United States, but the specific types of weapons have not yet been disclosed.
Recently, however, Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump have been discussing the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Moreover, this Friday, Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to Washington for a meeting with Trump, as "certain details of their discussions cannot be addressed over the phone."
