Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine will increase the range of its strikes against Russia. Drones are already reaching targets at more than 1,500 km.
New range — over 1,500 km
Zelenskyy called the current stage “long-range sanctions” — a new direction in the use of Ukrainian weapons against Russia.
“The straight-line distance is over 1,500 kilometers. We will continue to extend these ranges, and these are entirely justified Ukrainian responses to Russian terror,” the president wrote.
A report by Major General Yevhenii Khmara on our long-range sanctions – a new stage in the use of Ukrainian weapons to limit the potential of Russia’s war. I am grateful to the guys from the Security Service of Ukraine for their precision.

What these strikes achieve
According to Zelenskyy, each hit reduces Russia’s capabilities in three areas:
- Military industry
- Logistics
- Oil exports.
“The results are obvious to everyone. It is also obvious to everyone that Russia must end its war. It is time to move to diplomacy, and this is a signal that Moscow should hear,” the president added.
Several Russian cities have already felt the impact
On the morning of April 29, drones attacked two Russian cities at once — Orsk and Perm.
An oil refinery and a pipeline company's facility came under attack. Orsk is located more than 1,400 km from the border with Ukraine.
The day before, Ukrainian drones struck the refinery in Tuapse in Russia’s Krasnodar region for the third time in two weeks.
Due to a large-scale fire, local authorities announced an evacuation of the population, and the oil slick from the burning was visible even in satellite images.
