At the end of this week, advisers from Ukraine and the leaders of European Union countries will meet to discuss a plan to end the war with Russia, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel.
"During the Coalition of the Willing meeting, European leaders said they would also like to demonstrate their vision of a quick resolution together with us. This is not a plan to end the war, because, as you know, first and foremost, a ceasefire is needed,” Zelensky said.
According to him, this is a plan from which diplomacy begins, and in principle, it is the main one.
"I understand this perfectly, and everyone understands that after a ceasefire, it will be very difficult for Russia to resume aggression if there are strong security guarantees. So this plan is roughly focused on that. I think in the coming days our advisers will meet. We agreed on Friday or Saturday, and they will discuss the key features of this plan," the President added.
Peace plan for Europe and Ukraine
Recently, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that Ukraine and Europe are preparing a peace plan consisting of 12 points.
The plan envisions a complete cessation of hostilities along the front line and subsequent negotiations over the occupied territories. It also includes the return of all deported children and a prisoner exchange.
The implementation of such a plan would be carried out by a special peace commission led by US President Donald Trump.
According to Bloomberg, last week, European officials were scheduled to visit the US to discuss the plan. It is still unclear whether the initiative has support in Washington.
