Ukraine and European partners preparing plan to end war along front line - Bloomberg

Ukraine, together with its European allies, is developing a plan to end the war along the current front line. The plan consists of 12 points, Bloomberg reports.
According to sources cited by the outlet, the implementation of the proposed plan will be overseen by a peace commission chaired by US President Donald Trump.
The plan envisions that once Russia agrees to a ceasefire and both sides establish territorial lines, all deported children will be returned to Ukraine, and a prisoner exchange will take place.
In addition, Ukraine would receive security guarantees, funding for reconstruction, and an accelerated path toward European Union membership.
At the same time, Bloomberg reports that sanctions against Russia would be gradually eased, but around $300 billion in frozen bank assets would only be returned after Moscow agrees to participate in Ukraine’s postwar recovery. In the event of renewed aggression, the restrictions would be reinstated.
The plan also calls for Kyiv and Moscow to begin negotiations on the administration of occupied territories, while neither Europe nor Ukraine would legally recognize the occupied lands as Russian.
Details of the plan are still being finalized and may change, and its implementation would require support from Washington. Meanwhile, European officials are planning a trip to the US this week to discuss the plan. The proposal aligns with Trump’s recent calls to freeze the conflict along current positions until negotiations begin.
Trump’s call
On Friday, October 17, US President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The day before, on October 16, the US leader held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Immediately after meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump called on Ukraine and Russia to stop at their current positions. He also suggested that both sides declare victory.
Russia has already rejected Trump’s proposal. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Moscow does not want a ceasefire.
