Trump calls for ending war in Ukraine and declaring victory

US President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of halting the bloodshed and securing an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, according to a post on his Truth Social account.
"The meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine was very interesting, and cordial, but I told him, as I likewise strongly suggested to President Putin, that it is time to stop the killing, and make a DEAL!" Trump said.
He stated that "enough blood has been shed, with property lines being defined by War and Guts," adding that "they [Ukraine and Russia] should stop where they are."
"Let both claim Victory, let History decide! No more shooting, no more Death, no more vast and unsustainable sums of money spent. This is a War that would have never started if I were President. Thousands of people being slaughtered each and every week — NO MORE, GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES IN PEACE!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump-Zelenskyy meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on an official visit to Washington, where he met with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday, October 17.
Talks focused in part on the possible transfer of American long-range weapons to Ukraine, including Tomahawk missiles. Following the meeting, Trump said he believed that, together with Ukraine, he could persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.
Trump expressed hope that the conflict could be resolved without supplying Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv. He also said he was not concerned about Putin’s attempts to "buy time," calling them "nothing serious."
