Zelenskyy announces delivery of IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine: Three-year plan

Ukraine will receive new IRIS-T air defense systems from Germany. The delivery plan is scheduled for three years, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
The head of state noted that Ukraine is grateful to Germany for supplying the IRIS-T systems.
"We understand the delivery plan now. I won’t go into all the details, but the plan is for the next three years. And this is very important assistance for us in any case," Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that this does not mean the war will last another three years. Ukraine wants the war to end. However, at the same time, people’s safety must be protected with quality air defense systems.
"I am grateful that we have an understanding of the implementation of this project over the next three years," the president added.
IRIS-T for Ukraine
Germany is already providing Ukraine with its IRIS-T air defense systems. They help effectively protect Ukrainian airspace during Russia’s massive missile strikes.
In particular, on June 7, it was reported that one IRIS-T battery shot down eight Russian missiles in just 30 seconds.
Meanwhile, on May 28, Ukraine and Germany signed a contract for the production of IRIS-T systems and their missiles. The total value of the contract is 2.2 billion euros.
