Zelenskyy and Vance discuss Patriot missiles in phone call

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had a "good phone call" with US Vice President JD Vance. The two discussed anti-ballistic capabilities for Ukraine, among other issues, according to Zelenskyy.
"We followed up on our recent meeting with President Trump in Washington, which was positive and productive. As Russia's air attacks on our country continue unabated, air defense – specifically Patriot interceptors against ballistic missiles – remains a top priority," the president wrote.
Zelenskyy added that he and Vance also discussed the impact of Russia's full-scale war on global markets.
Zelenskyy recently said Ukraine urgently needs missiles to defend against Russia's large-scale ballistic missile attacks.
Kyiv is currently in talks with the United States to accelerate deliveries of missiles for Patriot air defense systems and to launch joint production of air defense equipment. Ukraine is also counting on Japan's support in organizing the production of Patriot systems under a US license.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Acting Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara stressed Ukraine's need for anti-ballistic missiles. According to him, Kyiv has asked Washington to supply PAC-3 interceptors, among other systems.
