Zelenskyy and Trump meet in New York: What is known
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. They will hold talks at Trump Tower in New York.
Details about the meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump and what preceded it can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine below.
"It’s an honor to have the president with us, and he’s been through a lot," Trump said, referring to Zelenskyy, according to The Guardian.
Trump noted that he and Zelenskyy are planning "to have a discussion and see what we can come up with."
At the same time, the Ukrainian president stated that he and Trump share a "common view that the war in Ukraine has to be stopped."
In addition, Trump boasted about his "good relations" with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he believes will help him end the war in Ukraine. In response, Zelenskyy said he hopes that Trump has better relations with him than with Putin.

It should be noted that the day before, it was said that Trump would not meet with Zelenskyy during his visit to the States. However, the presidential candidate himself announced that he would indeed meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York on Friday.
"President Zelenskyy has asked to meet with me, and I will be meeting with him tomorrow morning at around 9:45 in Trump Tower. It is a disgrace what is happening in Ukraine. So many deaths, so much destruction, it's terrible," Trump said.
At the same time, he posted on his blog on his social media platform, Truth Social, a letter supposedly received from the Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to the US In it, a request for a personal meeting is made on behalf of Zelenskyy.
Meanwhile, the media outlet Voice of America reported that the Ukrainian leader extended his visit to the US by another day.
Trump's attacks on Zelenskyy
It should be noted that in recent days, Trump has intensified his criticism of the Ukrainian president. This came especially after Republican dissatisfaction regarding Zelenskyy's visit to a munitions factory in Pennsylvania, where no representatives of the Republican Party were invited. Trump's team interpreted this as "interference in the US electoral process," which only gave him more reason to increase his criticism of Ukraine.
Additionally, the former White House chief has actively criticized President Joe Biden's administration in recent months for military aid to Kyiv and has repeatedly stated that if elected president, he would "get Zelenskyy to sit at the negotiating table with Putin."
However, Zelenskyy recently dismissed Trump's boasting that he could supposedly quickly negotiate a resolution in an interview with The New Yorker. He also stated that he feels "Trump actually doesn't know how to stop the war, even if he may think he knows how."
Furthermore, he rejected the peace plan presented by Trump ally and Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance, calling it "a terrible idea that could lead to global conflict."
In contrast, the Ukrainian leader plans to present Trump with his own victory plan, designed to prompt a swift response from allies.
Zelenskyy's visit to the US
It should be noted that since September 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been visiting the US. He has already held dozens of meetings with world leaders, government heads, congress members, and American community leaders.
He participated in the Future Summit, a meeting of the UN Security Council, and the UN General Assembly. Zelenskyy also had separate meetings with US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for president as a Democrat. He presented them with Ukraine's peace plan for ending the war.
During Zelenskyy's visit, Biden announced new military assistance to Kyiv amounting to nearly $8 billion, which includes long-range cruise bombs (JSOW), an additional Patriot battery, and more.
The White House chief assured his Ukrainian counterpart of unwavering support from allies.
