Zelenskyy and Starmer discuss sanctions on Russia and next diplomatic moves

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. They discussed sanctions against Russia and further diplomatic steps.
"I spoke with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. I thanked him for the new British sanctions, which help pressure Russia toward peace. Only coercion will work. Today we have a sanctions decision from the UK, as well as from the EU, and it would be good if the United States also helped. Our European partners are already preparing the next steps in this critically important canvas of pressure on Russia to stop the war." Zelenskyy wrote.
The Ukrainian President and the British Prime Minister also discussed the main details of diplomatic work and possible meetings that can ensure a ceasefire and move towards a lasting peace.
"We also discussed yesterday’s conversation with President Trump, as well as our joint actions within the Coalition of the Willing. We agreed to stay in close contact, nearly on a daily basis." Zelenskyy added.
UK sanctions against Russia
On Tuesday, May 20, the United Kingdom imposed new, wide-ranging sanctions against Russia aimed at increasing pressure on Russia's military, energy, and financial sectors.
The new list includes 100 sanctions, including Russian military structures, organizations that support the Kremlin's aggressive information warfare, and financial institutions that help finance the invasion of Ukraine.
The UK government pays special attention to limiting oil prices, which helps to reduce Russia's key revenues needed to support Putin's military machine.
