Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Italy and its Prime Minister for their readiness to continue supporting the reinforcement of Ukraine's air defense systems.

The President congratulated Meloni on Italy's assumption of the G7 presidency and highlighted Rome's support for Ukraine at the European and international levels.
"We appreciate the inclusion of defense capabilities and Ukraine's recovery among the priorities for 2024. This is a powerful signal that demonstrates unwavering support for Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor," he noted.
During the conversation, they discussed further steps in defense cooperation between Ukraine and Italy, touching upon the issue of defense co-production.
"Ukraine and Italy together can strengthen the defense not only for our nations but for Europe. It will be a significant contribution to global security," Zelenskyy stated.
According to the President, particular attention was given to preparing for the meeting of advisors on the Peace Formula, scheduled in Davos in a few weeks.
"I am thankful to Italy for the unwavering support of our efforts in restoring the full force of international law, which is precisely why our Peace Formula has been proposed. We instructed our teams to intensify bilateral work on security guarantees for Ukraine," Zelenskyy's statement read.
Additionally, the President discussed with Meloni matters concerning financial and political support for Ukraine from the European Union.
Italy's aid to Ukraine
Since the start of the large-scale military aggression by Russia against Ukraine, Italy has provided our state with seven packages of defense assistance.
Recently, Italy's Defense Minister, Guido Crosetto, announced that Rome plans to provide Ukraine with the 8th package of military aid. Currently, the country is considering what equipment can be transferred to Kyiv.
Moreover, in December 2023, the Italian government adopted a resolution allowing the country to provide military support to Ukraine until the end of 2024. This decision now requires support from the country's parliament.
