Russian occupation forces are advancing toward Zaporizhzhia and launching massive strikes on Ukraine, according to the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov.

During a meeting, Gerasimov told Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that the Dnepr group of forces is advancing toward the city of Zaporizhzhia.

"Fighting is currently taking place for control of the settlements of Prymorske and Stepnohirsk," he said.

In addition, according to Gerasimov, a planned and “targeted campaign of massive strikes on Ukrainian military facilities and defense industry sites” continues.

"Priority is given to striking enterprises that produce missile systems and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles," the head of the Russian General Staff claimed.

Situation in Zaporizhzhia

The analysts from DeepState earlier marked the settlement of Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region as occupied on their interactive map.

However, the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine refuted this information, emphasizing that the situation in the area remains difficult and dynamic, and Ukrainian troops continue to hold positions on the northern and northeastern outskirts of the settlement.

According to the military, Russian forces are attempting to seize Kamianske and Plavni in order to continue their offensive toward Prydniprovske and reach the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia.

Despite this, the Defense Forces are holding the line and repelling all attacks.

The Russian army also carried out a combined attack on Zaporizhzhia, using drones and aerial bombs. As a result of the strikes, residential buildings were hit, fires broke out, cars were burned down, and there were civilian casualties.

Due to the attack, 67,000 residents of Zaporizhzhia and more than 6,000 residents of the Zaporizhzhia district were left without power.
