Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia
In the last days of the previous year, Russian forces intensified attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region. For example, on December 31, the enemy struck during the day, causing fires and damaging a multi-story building with the blast wave.
Local authorities also reported cars catching fire as a result of the Russian attack. Later in the evening of December 31, Russia launched another strike.
Zaporizhzhia was also shelled on December 30, with infrastructure and residential areas hit.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to continue occupying the Zaporizhzhia region and advancing on the city despite peace talks and efforts by Kyiv, the US, and Europe to bring the war to an end.
