Zaluzhnyi comes into office as Ukraine's ambassador to UK
On July 11, Valerii Zaluzhnyi officially came into office as Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom, according to the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"I have begun my duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland," Zaluzhnyi wrote.
He clarified that he had handed copies of his credentials to the Vice Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, Director of Protocol of the Foreign Office Victoria Busby.
Zaluzhnyi said that Ukraine's victory in the war against Russia remains the main priority of his and the embassy's activities.
What happened before
In February of this year, it became known that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Valerii Zaluzhnyi from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr Syrskyi was appointed in his place.
On May 9, the head of the Ukrainian state decided to appoint Zaluzhnyi as Ukraine's ambassador to the UK.
At the same time, Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing the former Commander-in-Chief from military service for health reasons.
