Ex-Commander-in-Chief of Ukrainian army appointed as Ambassador to United Kingdom
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Valerii Zaluzhnyi as Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, according to a decree published on the website of the Presidential Office.
"To appoint Zaluzhnyi Valerii Fedorovych as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland," the document says.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on July 27, 2021. However, he resigned on February 8, 2024.
On February 9, Zaluzhnyi was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
Later it became known that Zelenskyy had approved Zaluzhnyi's candidacy for the post of ambassador to the UK. According to the President, the general himself asked for this position.
On May 9, Zelenskyy dismissed Zaluzhnyi from military service with the right to wear military uniforms.
