Xi Jinping tells Putin that China-Russia friendship remains unshakable amid global chaos
Chinese leader Xi Jinping told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the international situation is engulfed in chaos, but Beijing's strategic partnership with Moscow serves as a stabilizing force amid the most significant changes in a century, according to Reuters.
"At present, the world is going through changes unseen in a hundred years, and the international situation is intertwined with chaos. But I firmly believe that the friendship between China and Russia will continue for generations, and great countries’ responsibility to their people will not change," Xi told Putin in Kazan, Russia, at the opening of the BRICS summit.
He also stated that cooperation within the BRICS group represents "the most important platform for solidarity and cooperation between emerging market countries and developing countries in the world today." He emphasized that this group is "a mainstay force in promoting the realization of equal and orderly global multipolarity, as well as inclusive and tolerant economic globalization."
Notably, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen previously remarked that Russia could not sustain a full-scale war against Ukraine for long without China's support, asserting that Beijing bears responsibility for aiding the aggressor nation.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed strong concern over China's backing of Russia's defense industry during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Blinken remarked that Beijing's discussions about peace in Ukraine make no sense.
