Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, held a phone conversation with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, according to Xinhua.

The details of their conversation are not being disclosed at the moment.

Meanwhile, the South China Morning Post reports that the conversation took place at Putin's request. The specific topics discussed between the leaders of China and Russia have not been revealed. The Russian side has not commented on the reports from Chinese media.

Their previous conversation took place about a month ago, on January 21. During that time, Xi Jinping held a video call with Vladimir Putin, where they discussed Russia and China's cooperation.

Later, it was revealed that Xi Jinping would visit Moscow to participate in the celebration of the USSR's victory over Nazi Germany during World War II. The parade will take place on May 9.

In December last year, the Kremlin stated that it had invited "many countries" to participate in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of the war, which is referred to as the "Great Patriotic War" in Russia.

China-Russia relations

Previously in 2023, Xi Jinping and Putin held an agreement regarding "deepening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation," with both leaders declaring that relations between China and Russia were entering "a new era."

Putin and Xi have periodically visited each other since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. In particular, Moscow's ambassador in Beijing, Igor Morgulov, mentioned that the President of China plans to visit Russia in 2025.
