Xi Jinping holds video call with Vladimir Putin
China's leader, Xi Jinping, video-called Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to discuss cooperation between Russia and China, the Russian news agency "RIA Novosti" reports.
During the conversation, Putin and Xi discussed the development of the Russian-Chinese partnership and strategic interaction. Putin also stated that Russia and China's joint work objectively plays an important stabilizing role in international affairs.
"We coordinate our steps on other multilateral platforms - at the United Nations and its Security Council, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the G20, and APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum - ed.). Together, we advocate for the construction of a more just multipolar world order, working to ensure indivisible security in the Eurasian space and globally," said Putin.
Relations between China and Russia
In 2023, Xi Jinping and Putin agreed to "deepen the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation" and declared that relations between China and Russia were entering "a new era."
Putin and Xi have occasionally visited each other since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In particular, Moscow's ambassador to Beijing, Igor Morgulov, shared that the Chinese President plans to visit Russia in 2025.
