Witkoff on US conditions for military action against Iran

The US may resort to military action against Iran under certain circumstances, as President Donald Trump is firmly determined not to allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, according to the statement by US Special Representative Steve Witkoff on Fox News.
"We don't need to solve everything militarily. It's not to say that if gosh — if God forbid, we're — we're pushed to that point, that we're not going to use military action. We are — we would under certain circumstances," Witkoff said.
The special representative of the president emphasized that the US is currently signaling to Iran that dialogue can lead to the right solution, as the alternative is not the best.
Witkoff emphasized that US President Donald Trump's position on nuclear weapons in Iran remains unchanged.
"Iran cannot have a bomb. We cannot allow them to proceed to weaponization and a nuclear arsenal. It cannot happen, and it will not happen," he stressed.
US-Iran nuclear deal
Earlier, US President Donald Trump admitted that he wants to sign a new nuclear agreement with Iran. The countries had previously signed such an agreement in 2015, but Trump withdrew the US from it in 2018.
According to the media, Trump recently sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, demanding a new nuclear deal within two months.
Trump warned in the letter that there were two options - the military path or an agreement.
Khamenei rejected the US proposal for talks, calling it a deception and stating that dialogue with Trump's administration would only tighten the sanctions knot and increase pressure on Iran.
Iran also set a condition for negotiations on the nuclear deal, stating that talks would be impossible unless the US changed its policy of pressure.
In response to Khamenei's refusal to negotiate with Washington, the Trump administration advised the Iranian leader to prioritize the interests of his people over terror.
