Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that Tehran is not engaging in negotiations with a "bullying government." This comment came amid attempts by US President Donald Trump to initiate dialogue with Iran, reports Radio Liberty.

In his speech on Saturday, Khamenei did not mention the United States or the Trump administration. However, he said that "bullying government" insists on negotiations that are not aimed at resolving issues but rather at "dictating" and "imposing."

This followed a statement by Trump in an interview, in which he expressed his desire for talks with Tehran regarding Iran's nuclear program and mentioned sending a letter to Khamenei. Later, he told reporters that "something's going to happen very soon" and that the US is at the final stage regarding Iran.

However, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the letter from the US president has not yet arrived in Tehran.

"We have heard of it (the letter -ed.), but we haven’t received anything," he told Iranian television journalists.

US-Iran nuclear deal

After returning to the White House in January of this year, Trump expressed his intention to negotiate a new nuclear deal with Iran. The previous agreement was signed in 2015, but in 2018, Trump made the decision to withdraw the US from the deal.

Later, Trump expressed his willingness to reach an agreement with Iran on limiting non-nuclear weapons, preferring a diplomatic solution to potential military action.

Bloomberg reported that in February of this year, Trump reached out to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking him to mediate negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program.
