Trump says he wants to sign new nuclear deal with Iran

US President Donald Trump wants to sign a new nuclear deal with Iran, according to his post on Truth Social. The countries had already signed such an agreement in 2015, but Trump withdrew the United States from it in 2018.
"I want Iran to be a great and successful country, but one that cannot have a nuclear weapon. Reports that the United States, working in conjunction with Israel, is going to blow Iran into smithereens, are greatly exaggerated," Trump wrote.
According to the President, he would prefer a "verified nuclear peace agreement which will let Iran peacefully grow and prosper".
"We should start working on it immediately, and have a big Middle East Celebration when it is signed and completed. God Bless the Middle East!" Trump added.

Trump’s statement on Iran deal: Background
According to The Guardian, the social media post came after Trump held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and signed a presidential memorandum instructing the US Treasury and State Department to launch a campaign aimed at reducing Iran’s oil exports to zero.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry is working to prepare the domestic environment for the start of negotiations with Trump in the coming weeks, though it faces strong opposition from a faction that rejects engagement with the US, even if it means continued economic strain from sanctions.
Currently, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has held two rounds of talks in Geneva with three European countries that signed the 2015 nuclear deal - France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Europe has warned that it plans to reimpose UN sanctions in September if a new deal to replace the 2015 agreement, which expires this year, is not reached by then.
In response, Iran has reduced access for UN weapons inspectors to its nuclear facilities.
