Without Trump? Witkoff and Kellogg to fly to Istanbul for Russia-Ukraine talks

US Presidential Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg will travel to Istanbul to participate in talks between Ukraine and Russia, Reuters and CNN report.
Three unnamed sources told Reuters that Witkoff and Kellogg will fly to Istanbul on Thursday for potential Ukraine-Russia talks.
The information about Kellogg and Witkoff's plans to participate in the talks in Istanbul was also confirmed by unnamed CNN sources.
A senior official in the US presidential administration told CNN that Donald Trump's participation in the talks between Ukraine and Russia will largely depend on whether Russia's Vladimir Putin takes part in them.
"Everything is very dynamic now and no one knows anything," the unnamed official said.
Ukraine-Russia talks and Trump's plans
On May 11, Vladimir Putin offered to hold talks in Istanbul on Thursday, May 15.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to the idea. It is important to note that he himself wanted to go to the talks and expects Putin to fly to Istanbul for a dialogue.
It is not yet clear whether such a meeting will take place. Russian representatives have not given a clear answer as to whether Putin will personally participate in the talks.
At the same time, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Presidential Administration, emphasized that in Istanbul, Zelenskyy was only ready to talk with Putin, not with other Russian officials.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump has already said that he is considering traveling to Istanbul to participate in the summit talks, if they take place.
