The US delegation will not be present at the second round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Türkiye, which are scheduled for next week, according to The Atlantic.

According to journalists, although Trump has recently discussed imposing new sanctions on Russia with his aides, "he is waiting to see what happens when representatives from Ukraine and Russia meet for a second round of talks, set for next week in Istanbul."

"The US is not planning to send a delegation," the article states.

At the same time, White House aides said that "Trump wants to see progress."

"The president is mad, but he also wants a deal. He’s trying to figure out the best path to get there - but believe him when he says he’ll walk away," said one of the outside advisers.

Ukraine–Russia negotiations

Recently, Russia proposed holding a second round of negotiations on June 2 in Istanbul. On May 30, it became known that Ukraine is ready for further talks with Russia. However, before the meeting, Kyiv wants to receive a so-called "memorandum" from Moscow regarding a possible ceasefire.

On May 16, the first round of talks between Ukrainian and Russian representatives took place in Türkiye, during which potential ways to end the war were discussed. As a result, the delegations agreed to prepare written proposals regarding the conditions for a potential ceasefire.

Currently, Russia is delaying the delivery of its memorandum. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, Russia is doing everything possible to prolong the war and derail the negotiations, hence delays in submitting the document.
