Ukraine does not plan to hold a referendum on recognizing territories occupied by Russia, stated the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

According to him, Ukraine takes a realistic view of the fact that Russia has seized part of its territory. However, there will be no referendums on recognizing this occupation.

"We do not intend to give up any part of our land. But today we are realistic and know that the aggressor has occupied some regions, and for now, we cannot liberate them by force of arms. At the same time, we want to stop the war and ensure that it does not happen again," Yermak noted.

Territory exchange

Earlier, US President Donald Trump suggested resolving the war between Russia and Ukraine through a "land swapping."

At the same time, he promised that Ukraine would be given back part of the territories currently under Russian occupation.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine would not agree to any exchange of territories with Russia, since this is prohibited by the Constitution.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament - ed.) Ruslan Stefanchuk also stated that Ukraine cannot agree to a territory exchange with Russia, even through a referendum. Violation of territorial integrity is against the law.
