Ukraine cannot go "all-in" in its relations with the US. Such a move requires highly reliable partners, director of the Institute of World Policy and PhD in Political Science, Yevhen Mahda, states this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.

"In order to go all-in, you need to have such reliable partners and rely on them so much that you feel your back is protected. Like you, I’ve had to read expert assessments stating that, for example, in terms of ammunition, Ukraine has a certain stockpile for a few months. But who can predict, in the context of Trump, that everything will be resolved in these few months?" noted Mahda.

He pointed out that what is happening in the relations between the US and Canada and the US and Mexico are things that "actually overturn a lot of foundations."

According to Mahda, Ukraine should remember that the US is the country with the largest military budget in the world, bigger than the next ten countries combined. The US also has the military equipment and air defense systems that Ukraine lacks, and they may be in stock, unlike most European countries.

"And that means we need to maneuver and look for different paths. If we can’t, so to speak, send someone to play golf with Trump and convince him between holes about the need to help Ukraine, we have to find approaches to other people. To JD Vance, to Mike Johnson, to those who are currently shaping the vision and influencing Donald Trump," the political scientist believes.

Zelenskyy's dispute with Trump

It is worth reminding that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a falling out with US President Donald Trump during his visit to the US. Following this, Washington made a number of controversial decisions.

In particular, the US stopped providing military aid to Ukraine. They also ceased sharing intelligence data with Ukraine.
