Russian forces do not have full control over the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka highway in the Donetsk region. Fighting in the area is ongoing, according to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group of Forces, on the air of Suspilne. Studiia.

According to him, fighting is ongoing in the highway area, and the Russian troops do not have clear control over it.

"There is no clear control over the highway or the settlements around it. Direct clashes are taking place there with varying results. Ukrainian forces are reclaiming positions in certain directions, while Russian troops are trying to advance, entrench themselves, and hold onto small settlements or individual positions within them," the spokesperson explained.

The section of the front near the highway is part of the Pokrovsk direction. The main axis of attacks in this area is closer to Pokrovsk.

"In other words, the battle for Pokrovsk is ongoing and quite intense. It is taking place to the south and southwest," Trehubov added.

It is worth noting that on February 10, the analytical project DeepState marked part of the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka highway in red on its map, indicating control by the occupying forces.

Battle for Pokrovsk

Pokrovsk is a city in the Donetsk region that has become one of the key defensive strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in eastern Ukraine. The Pokrovsk direction is the most active section of the front, with defenders repelling more than 30 enemy assaults daily.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that in January, the Defense Forces neutralized 15,000 Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction.

According to the spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group of Forces, Russian losses near Pokrovsk over the past month exceed those suffered during the entire Second Chechen War.
