Russia lost more people in a month near Pokrovsk than during the entire Second Chechen War that lasted 10 years, from 1999 to 2009, according to the spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Troops, Viktor Trehubov.
“Near Pokrovsk, there were 7,000 irreversible (Russian losses - ed.) in January... Let's compare. According to the official declaration of the Russians, they lost 6,000 people irretrievably in the Second Chechen War,” the spokesman said.
He added that such losses are not in storming the city but trying to bypass it.
“In other words, they are losing as much in one direction in a month as they have been losing in modern local wars,” added Trehubov.
