US President Donald Trump will spend the entire day on July 8 at the NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye, and will fly back to Washington that evening. On the agenda is a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Roll Call.

NATO summit agenda

US President Donald Trump’s schedule in Ankara is planned down to the minute. The meetings will take place at the Bestepe Presidential Compound.

A bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Kyiv time (7:30 a.m. Washington time).

In addition to Zelenskyy, the US President’s schedule includes another bilateral meeting with Syrian Arab Republic President Ahmed al-Sharaa. It will take place immediately after his conversation with the Ukrainian leader.

Following the press conference, the US President will depart from Etimesgut Air Base for Washington.

The NATO summit in Ankara may not go smoothly because of Trump himself. According to CNN, the US President headed to the meeting of Alliance leaders in a bad mood, as he has recently become increasingly skeptical of Washington’s alliance commitments.

The agency notes that Trump has never explicitly ruled out the possibility of the US withdrawing from NATO.

On the eve of the summit, four NATO countries proposed a new defense funding mechanism to support Ukraine.

The United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Finland, and Poland announced the creation of a Multilateral Defense Mechanism, which is set to become operational by 2027.
