President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of secondary sanctions against Russia, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says on Monday.

"I think everything's on the table. And again, I won't get ahead of the president in any commitments or decisions, but certainly, it's something he's been looking at and discussing," Leavitt said in response to a question about new sanctions against Russia.

According to her, Trump is increasingly frustrated with both sides of the conflict.

"We'll see how the call goes (between Putin and Trump)," Leavitt said.

According to her, "the president has made it clear his goal is to see a ceasefire and to see this conflict come to an end."

"The President and his team have put an enormous amount of effort into solving this very complicated war," she added.

Sanctions against Russia

The United States and Europe recently declared their readiness to impose sanctions on Russia if the aggressor country refuses to agree to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already rejected the ceasefire proposal. However, instead of pressuring Russia with sanctions, President Donald Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree to negotiations with the Russian Federation.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington had given Moscow time to make progress in peace talks, but patience is wearing thin — a decision on sanctions is already in the works.
