White House preparing Trump meetings at G7 as Zelenskyy to attend summit

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that bilateral meetings between leaders are being prepared on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada. The presidents of Brazil, Mexico, and Ukraine are also expected to attend, according to Ukrinform.
In response to a question about whether US President Donald Trump might hold bilateral meetings outside of official G7 events, including with leaders of invited countries, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that several one-on-one meetings between the president and other foreign leaders were indeed being planned.
However, she did not specify whether a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was on the schedule.
Leavitt added that the White House was still working to finalize the president’s schedule and would make it public as soon as it was confirmed.
Zelenskyy’s participation in G7
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said that President Zelenskyy had been invited to attend both the NATO summit and the G7 and EU meetings.
Speaking about the G7, which is set to take place from June 15 to 17, Tykhyi noted that preparations for the meetings and their formats were still ongoing. Final details regarding Zelenskyy’s participation, he added, would be announced closer to the event dates.
He emphasized that many factors, including security considerations, were influencing the decision. Tykhyi stated that Ukraine remained in a state of full-scale war, which influenced planning and decisions. However, he confirmed that invitations to both events had been extended and that preparations for participation were actively underway, stressing that this was a confirmed fact.
