The White House has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling him "the President of PEACE," according to the official Facebook page of the government organization.

"President Donald J. Trump is the President of PEACE," the statement says.

Among those who have voiced support for the American leader's candidacy are:

  • Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan;
  • Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev;
  • Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet;
  • Gabonese President Brice Oligui Nguema;
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu;
  • The Government of Pakistan;
  • Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe.

Countries line up to back Trump

Last month, Pakistan announced it would recommend Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to help resolve its conflict with India.

Later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had personally nominated Trump for the award.

In early August, Cambodia also declared its intention to put forward the US President's candidacy.

Back in March, US Representative Darrell Issa and The Hill reported that Trump would be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year.

Then Issa pointed to the peace efforts of the US President in the Middle East.
