Ramstein meeting
The Ukraine Defense Contact Group brings together more than 50 partner countries and coordinates military assistance to Ukraine to counter Russian aggression.
The format is named after the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where the first meetings were held following Russia’s full-scale invasion in April 2022.
After the change of administration in the United States, leadership of the Ramstein format was taken over by the United Kingdom and Germany.
The previous, 32nd, Ramstein meeting was held on December 16, 2025, via video conference.
After that meeting, former Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said Ukraine would continue receiving military assistance from its allies in 2026. Fifteen countries made concrete commitments.
In particular, partners pledged to direct nearly $5 billion toward Ukraine’s defense production and about another $5 billion to purchase US weapons for Ukraine.
Despite the UK and Germany leading the group, at some point, there emerged a need for more active, daily work, coordination, and support, including on the organizational level.
In addition, Ukraine recently convened the energy Ramstein meeting amid a difficult electricity situation caused by Russian strikes and severe cold weather.
