What sanctions could Trump impose on Russia after deadline? Presidential Office weighs in

US President Donald Trump may introduce combined measures against Russia - secondary tariffs and sanctions - once the set deadline passes, stated Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy.
Vlasiuk emphasized that the American leader has all the tools necessary to impose any kind of sanctions against Russia.
"The good news is that, according to my information, they already have a prepared decision regarding sanctions on Russia - a 'menu' that will be presented to President Trump. I believe it will be a mix of secondary tariffs and secondary sanctions," he added.
According to Vlasiuk, this refers to 100% secondary tariffs as well as sanctions against specific companies and individuals.
Trump’s deadline
On July 14, US President Donald Trump promised to hit Russia with 100% secondary tariffs if it does not move toward peace with Ukraine within 50 days.
Last week, the American leader reinforced his decision - the deadline was significantly shortened. Now, Russia faces secondary tariffs and sanctions if it does not sign a peace agreement by August 8.
Trump has not yet specified the exact measures he intends to impose against Russia, apart from the 100% secondary tariffs.
