During today’s Ramstein meeting, the launch of an electronic warfare (EW) coalition was announced. Eleven countries, including Ukraine, have already joined, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

According to Umerov, the EW coalition will focus on:

  • procuring equipment

  • training and preparing specialists

  • developing policies and doctrines in the field of electronic warfare.

“Electronic warfare is a critically important component of modern warfare. Without effective electronic protection, no unit can be fully combat-ready. The launch of the coalition will allow us to coordinate efforts and respond comprehensively to the needs of the Defense Forces,” he explained.

Umerov added that the coalition will address not only the current needs of Ukrainian troops but will also lay the foundation for long-term capability development.

Ramstein meeting

Today, April 11, another meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group took place in Brussels. During the gathering, Berlin announced a new aid package for Ukraine, including a pledge to provide additional IRIS-T air defense systems and missiles for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.

UK Defense Secretary John Healey noted that the meeting marked a record level of support for Ukraine.
