Almost all the American weapons that, according to the new agreement between Washington and NATO, are to be handed over to the Alliance for further delivery to Ukraine, are already ready for shipment, The New York Times reports.

According to the media outlet, citing officials, Patriot air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition are among the American weapons that NATO allies will purchase under the arms agreement with the US.

Additionally, sources from The New York Times say that almost all the weapons are ready for immediate shipment to Ukraine. This means they are either already in existing military stockpiles or have just been manufactured.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump described the new deal as beneficial for the US, although he did not provide details on how it would be implemented.

"It’s a very big deal we’ve made. You have very wealthy countries buying the best equipment in the world, and we have the best equipment in the world. We make equipment like no other," Trump said.

In response, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that at least eight Alliance countries are ready to pay for the weapons and praised Trump for helping Ukraine receive "what it needs to have to maintain, to be able to defend itself, against Russia."

"But you do want Europeans to pay for it, which is totally logical," Mr. Rutte added.

Weapons for Ukraine

Trump has recently changed his stance on military aid to Ukraine, specifically stating that the US will send Patriot systems to Ukraine, but the payment for them will come from EU countries.

Earlier, Trump announced the transfer of 17 Patriot systems to Ukraine. According to him, these complexes can be deployed quickly.

Later, Rutte said that Trump promised to provide Ukraine with weapons worth "billions of dollars."

According to media reports, Trump is considering supplying Ukraine with JASSM cruise missiles and even Tomahawk missiles, which are capable of reaching Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
