'We love them': Trump sends message to Ukrainians during meeting with Zelenskyy

US President Donald Trump received his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House and answered the question of what message he would like to send today to the people of Ukraine, according to the broadcast of the meeting.
Specifically, journalists near the White House asked the US President what he would like to say to the Ukrainian people before the meeting with Zelenskyy.
"We love them," Trump replied.
Zelenskyy's visit together with European leaders to Washington takes place within the framework of Donald Trump's peace efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war. Prior to this, last week a summit with Vladimir Putin was organized in Alaska.
As a result of that summit, no specific agreements were announced. The US President stated that there was no deal, but there was progress. According to insights from Western media, the Russian president is not ready to abandon territorial claims and demands concessions from Ukraine only in exchange for the possibility of freezing the current front line.
Today at the White House with Trump, the conditions of a peace agreement that he discussed with Putin are to be considered. It is known that after the one-on-one meeting with Zelenskyy, there will be a joint meeting with the participation of European leaders.
Before today's reception, Trump stated that he knows exactly what he is doing. And President Zelenskyy emphasized that it is Russia that must take steps toward peace.
It is expected that one of the results will be clarity regarding the possibility of holding a trilateral summit in the Trump-Zelenskyy-Putin format, at which real negotiations could conclude with a peace agreement. According to media reports, such a meeting could take place in the Vatican, Geneva, or some European capitals.
