Rome or Geneva? Media reveal possible meeting spot for Trump, Zelenskyy, and Putin

EU diplomats disagree over the location of a potential trilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin, Sky News reports.
According to the media outlet, the US asked European allies to be ready for negotiations already this week.
It was preliminarily agreed that, if there are no last-minute changes, the meeting will take place in Europe.
During a video call of the coalition of allies, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni proposed Rome, while French President Emmanuel Macron voiced support for Geneva.
As Sky News writes, Zelenskyy and Trump lean toward holding the meeting in the Vatican, while Putin insists on Geneva.
The Foreign Ministries of Italy and Switzerland confirmed their readiness to host the negotiations. At the same time, the EU is considering other options as well, in particular, Budapest and Helsinki.
Trilateral meeting and negotiations in Alaska
European diplomats are actively searching for a possible location for the trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and the US, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, with Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, Trump announced a meeting with Putin on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska.
Putin may put forward the condition of recognizing the occupied Ukrainian territories as part of Russia in exchange for the withdrawal of troops from other regions. However, territorial issues will only be discussed in Zelenskyy’s presence during the next meeting.
According to RBC-Ukraine, the Ukrainian President is ready to take part in trilateral negotiations in any format, if they take place.
