Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized US Vice President JD Vance’s stance on cutting aid to Ukraine, saying such approaches could benefit Russia in an interview with Newsmax.

"I don't agree with the Vice President. We are open, and we are not enemies. Russia is the enemy," he said.

He stressed that refusing to support Ukraine effectively works in Moscow’s favor, adding that if Vance is "proud that he is not helping us, it means that he is helping Russians."

According to Zelenskyy, cutting aid would have consequences not only for Ukraine. He noted that it would also weaken the United States and boost Russia’s confidence.

"Russia doesn't respect weakness, and if nobody will help us, we will be, of course, in a weaker position," he said.

At the same time, the President emphasized the importance of partnership between Ukraine and the United States.

"I'm sure that the United States is a great partner for Ukraine, and Ukrainians can also strengthen the United States. In business, people say it's win-win, so why not to win?"

In recent days, US Vice President JD Vance said he is proud of the decision to end US funding for the war in Ukraine. According to him, Washington is no longer purchasing or supplying weapons to Kyiv.

He also stressed that the United States has shifted responsibility for further support to European partners, suggesting they should independently finance arms purchases.
