US Vice President JD Vance states that he is very proud that the United States has stopped funding Ukraine.

Vance claims that one of the White House’s major achievements is the decision to stop funding the war in Ukraine.

"It’s one of the things I’m proudest that we’ve done in this administration is we’ve told Europe that if you want to buy weapons you can, but the United States is not buying and sending them to Ukraine anymore. We are just out of that business," he says.

US stopped funding Ukraine

After Donald Trump became the US President for the second time, the Americans gradually stopped providing military aid directly to Ukraine.

Instead, the PURL program was created in collaboration with NATO. Its goal is to rapidly supply Ukraine with critically important American weapons that have no European equivalents.

The mechanism involves creating a priority list of needs (including air defense systems and artillery ammunition), agreed upon with Ukraine’s partners.

Alliance countries finance the purchases through contributions to a joint fund, after which the US ensures the direct delivery of equipment and ammunition to the front lines.

Earlier, the US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the country’s current problems with military stockpiles, particularly those related to the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, are a consequence of decisions made by the previous administration.

According to him, Washington is already reviewing its approaches to the use of defense resources and emphasizing the need to replenish stocks as quickly as possible while simultaneously supporting Ukraine and conducting a military campaign against Iran.
