Commander of Joint Forces on possible escalation of war in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine may escalate beyond the southern and eastern regions. This becomes quite probable if Russia continues to increase arms production and enhance technologies, as this was stated by the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Serhii Naiev in his interview with ABC News.
In particular, speaking with journalists, Naiev warned that if Russia continues to increase arms production and enhance technologies with the help of its allies, the war may once again extend beyond the eastern and southern regions.
"We are getting ready for that," he said. "We're building defenses, putting mines, and training our forces."
The general noted that in Ukraine, they understand that the current war is a war for resources.
"We understand that there is currently a resource war going on. The Russian Federation gets its resources with the help of the Axis of Evil -- it is North Korea, it is Iran," Lt. Gen. Serhii Naiev told ABC News. “And we, with the help of our partners, receiving air defense equipment from them, are opposing the Russian Federation with their resources. It must be understood that the reduction of aid will hit our defense capabilities. But we will fight with what we have.”
"Technology is critical. The target for which, according to the old Soviet-style technologies, it was necessary to spend 100 shells -- with the help of Western technologies, much less is needed, and it is measured in numbers up to ten, so the technology always outweighs the number. And I will emphasize once again that this help is very, very important to us," Naiev said.
Cooperation between Iran, North Korea, and Russia
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, Russia sought assistance from Iran in the supply of Shahed-type kamikaze drones. Since then, Russia has regularly employed these UAVs for attacks on military and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Consequently, numerous sanctions have been imposed on Iran. Simultaneously, Iran has actively engaged in the construction of a factory in Russia for the production of Shaheds, which is expected to be completed by the end of the next year. Furthermore, Russia is striving to manufacture 6,000 drones by 2025 with Iran's assistance.
Regarding North Korea, recently, after bilateral talks on economics, science, and technology, the countries signed a protocol to expand cooperation in various areas. In particular, North Korea sent over 1 million artillery shells to Russia. The supply started as early as August of this year. Additionally, North Korea has made about 10 arms deliveries to Russia, which may be sufficient for approximately two months of shelling.
