Wagner deployment in Belarus is attempt to distract attention of Ukraine's allies from the war - Ukrainian Defense Agency says
The movement of the PMC 'Wagner' to Belarus is nothing more than a diversion to distract the attention and efforts of Ukraine's partners from the war with Russia, according to a representative of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov.
According to him, the movement of "Wagner" mercenaries to Belarus creates additional points of tension and danger. However, the occupiers have only made their situation worse.
"Such provocations force Poland to strengthen its own security and defense sector, increase attention to the Belarusian border. The readiness to counteract from our NATO and EU allies is only increasing," said Yusov.
Wagner PMC in Belarus
After the failed coup attempt by Wagner PMC leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, some of his fighters have arrived in Belarus. They are located in a tent camp.
Ukrainian border guards emphasize that, for now, the militants in Belarus do not pose a threat to Ukraine, but provocations cannot be ruled out.
Recently, the Prime Minister of Poland stated that Russia and Belarus have sent a hundred Wagner mercenaries to the Suwalki corridor. This territory connects Poland with Lithuania and other Baltic countries, and also separates the Kaliningrad region of Russia from Belarus.
