Donald Trump's plan for ending the war might involve creating a "demilitarized zone" in the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia. Meanwhile, Ukraine will have to refuse to join NATO, stated J.D. Vance, the Republican vice-presidential candidate, on the Shawn Ryan Show podcast.

"So I think it goes like this: Trump sits down, he says the Russians, the Ukrainians, the Europeans: you, guys, need to figure out what a peaceful settlement looks like. And it will probably look like the current line of demarcation between Russia and Ukraine. That becomes like a demilitarized zone. It's heavily fortified so that the Russians do not invade again," said Vance.

In his opinion, in this case, Ukraine will retain its sovereignty.

"Russia gets a guarantee of neutrality from Ukraine, it does not join NATO, it does not join any allied institutions," added the Republican vice-presidential candidate.

He also stated that both Russia and Ukraine want this war to end.

"Europe, by the way, has underfunded this war, while American taxpayers have been very generous to Ukrainians," J.D. Vance added.

According to him, Europe wants to end the war in Ukraine because of rising energy prices.

Earlier, we reported that if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election, he will promote an agreement between Ukraine and Russia. This could happen regardless of the terms on which such an agreement is based.
