USA reports downing threatening missiles and drones in Red Sea
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it has intercepted cruise missiles and drones directed towards the Red Sea, according to the CENTCOM's Twitter page.
According to the Central Command, six anti-ship cruise missiles were launched towards the sea. The military successfully repelled the attack.
"The US Central Command forces conducted two self-defense strikes against six mobile anti-ship cruise missiles that were prepared to launch towards the Red Sea," stated CENTCOM.
Additionally, the military intercepted a drone headed towards the southern part of the Red Sea.
"Earlier that evening, CENTCOM forces shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the southern Red Sea in self-defense," reported the US military.
Attack on ships in the Red Sea
Earlier, we reported that the German frigate Hessen successfully repelled an attack by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
The US military destroyed several surface drones belonging to the Houthis. The weaponry was intended for attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
We also informed about the Houthi attack on a tanker in the Gulf of Aden. The vessel was sailing under the American flag.
