The US military struck Iranian radar sites and drone command centers in response to the downing of one of its drones on Saturday and Sunday, despite the ongoing ceasefire, according to CENTCOM.
US Central Command reports that it struck targets in Goruk and on Qeshm Island in Iran, destroying radars and drone command centers. The strike was in response to Iran’s downing of an American MQ-1 drone operating over international waters.
In response, US fighter jets destroyed:
- Iranian air defense systems;
- Ground control station;
- 2 kamikaze drones that posed a threat to ships in the region.
No US service members were injured.

The command describes the strikes as measured and targeted and emphasizes that they were a response to unjustified Iranian aggression during the current ceasefire. The command states that it would continue to defend US assets and interests in the region.
The new strikes came amid difficult negotiations. At the last minute, Trump decided to rewrite the nearly finalized agreement with Iran, and the President put forward new demands after reviewing the draft agreement.
The US and Iran have moved closer to a framework agreement that provides for a 60-day ceasefire, the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program.
