US State Department explains what US support can help Ukraine win war
Washington believes no single type of weapon will be decisive in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Instead, a combination of measures, which the US continues to develop, might be what ultimately helps Kyiv secure victory, according to US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
During a conversation with American journalists, the US official addressed questions about long-range missiles from the US, which Ukraine has requested be declassified.
The official confirmed that discussions between the American and British sides on this issue will continue during the United Nations General Assembly next week.
The State Department representative also reiterated the US position that "there is no one capability that ultimately, by itself, is the magic wand that is decisive in this conflict."
"There are a number of different capabilities that taken together can help Ukraine win this war, and that’s what we continue to provide them," said Miller.
He added that the US is continuing to assess whether there are "additional capabilities, additional tactics, additional techniques that we ought to provide to them."
"And when we assess that it is in their interest and the interests of the United States to do so, we’ll do so," emphasized the State Department spokesperson.
When asked how Washington expects Ukraine to achieve victory in the large-scale war with Russia, Miller spoke about the comprehensive measures in the context of US assistance.
"We expect them to win by continuing to provide them the billions of dollars in security assistance that we have provided them since the outset of this conflict, the type of security assistance that along with brave Ukrainian fighting has led them to recapture a majority of the territory that they lost to Ukraine in the early days of the war," said the US official.

Recently, Ukraine's partner countries have been actively discussing lifting restrictions on the Ukrainian military's ability to strike Russian territory with weaponry provided as aid.
Recently, The Times reported that the US agreed to allow Ukraine to use British and French Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles for attacks on Russian territory.
The Guardian also reported that the American and British authorities have already made a decision regarding Ukrainian strikes on Russia but have not announced it.
It should be noted that there is currently no official confirmation of these rumors.
British media also reported that London would not allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons to strike Russia without Washington's approval.
