US Secret Service sets to increase security measures for Trump at his rallies
The US Secret Service is going to enhance security for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump after a failed assassination attempt against him, indicating the use of bulletproof glass during his future campaign rallies, according to CNN.
A senior official told the media that the Secret Service imposes additional security measures, including increasing the number of agents and making “certain technological changes.”
It is planned to use bulletproof glass in areas where Trump will hold his rallies around the country. The official adds that the glass could be used indoors or outdoors “depending on the security at each location.”
The Service will also take the lead on moving and preparing new measures for each GOP nominee’s meeting until the end of the election campaign.
When asked to comment on the new security measures for Trump, the official refused to disclose any information, referring to “operational security.”
Assassination attempt on Trump
On July 13, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire during a meeting of the GOP nominee with voters in Butler, Pennsylvania. The former US president was wounded in the ear, and the Secret Service agents eliminated the shooter.
In the wake of the assassination attempt, the US Secret Service has come under fire for failing to protect the Republican presidential nominee. Later, the US Secret Service director, Kimberly Cheatle, resigned from her post on July 23.
On July 29, the Federal Bureau of Investigation wants to question the former US President about the assassination attempt on him. Trump has agreed to be interviewed by the FBI agents.
