American and Russian officials will meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days. However, the talks will not involve the highest leadership of the two countries, stated US State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce, during a recent briefing.

Bruce was asked who would be involved in negotiations with Russian officials.

“It will not be principals going to those negotiations,” the spokesperson said. She added that it would be “senior staff addressing technical frameworks.”

Bruce said that this would happen in the coming days and expressed confidence that some results would be seen soon.

US State Department spokesperson clarified that the format of the meeting is still being discussed. It is expected that the agreements reached during the talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be technically elaborated and formalized.

US-Russia meeting

Earlier, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz announced that US and Russian officials would hold a new meeting in Saudi Arabia.

The first such meeting took place at the highest leadership level. US officials involved included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, Mike Waltz.

It is expected that during the upcoming meeting, the parties will discuss the possibility of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has only agreed to a partial ceasefire so far. It is about ending attacks on the energy infrastructure.
