The US Department of Justice has released new files in the case of convicted sex offender financier Jeffrey Epstein. They contain numerous mentions of US leader Donald Trump, according to The Washington Post.

According to the documents, in 2021, a subpoena was sent to Mar-a-Lago requesting records related to the case against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate in sex trafficking.

They include notes by an assistant US attorney in New York regarding the number of flights Trump took on Epstein’s plane. The records include one flight on which only Trump, Epstein, and a 20-year-old woman were present.

"The flight records we received yesterday reflect that Donald Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware)," the assistant prosecutor wrote in a letter.

The records indicate that between 1993 and 1996, Trump was on board at least eight flights. On at least four of them, Maxwell was also present.

The released documents also contain several reports collected by the FBI concerning Trump’s ties to Epstein, as well as parties held at their properties in the early 2000s. The materials do not show whether any follow-up investigation took place or whether any of the reports were confirmed.

The documents were publicly available on the US Department of Justice website but were later removed. The Washington Post managed to download the files while they were still accessible.

Epstein case

On December 10, a US court ruled to allow the release of investigation materials in the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The disclosure became possible after the adoption of legislation on the transparency of Epstein-related files.

Previously, the investigation materials were considered permanently sealed under the law. In August, the court rejected a request by the Department of Justice to make them public.

The case was launched in 2005. The investigation identified more than 50 minors who received money from the billionaire in exchange for sexual services between 2002 and 2005.

Epstein died in a federal prison in 2019, with the official cause listed as suicide. However, the circumstances of his death remain a mystery, and there is a version suggesting he may have been eliminated because of sensitive information he possessed.

On December 19, the US Department of Justice began publishing a new large batch of files related to financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The materials include testimonies, immunity agreements, internal investigations, and photographs that could shed light on his ties to influential individuals.

According to the Justice Department, the total volume of documents could reach hundreds of thousands of pages. The first stage of publication has already begun, with further releases expected over the coming weeks.

The newly released materials in the Jeffrey Epstein case mention the name of Donald Trump. The documents refer to his acquaintance with a 14-year-old girl at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
