The US Department of Justice has begun publishing a large new set of documents related to financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to The Washington Post.

The materials include testimony, immunity agreements, internal investigations, and photographs that could shed light on his connections with influential figures.

According to the Justice Department, the total volume of documents could reach hundreds of thousands of pages. The first phase of publication has already begun, with additional releases expected over the coming weeks. The department noted that each document is carefully redacted to protect personal data and the identities of victims.

Who appears in the Epstein files

Among the released materials are a photo of a painting depicting former US President Bill Clinton in a woman’s dress and high heels, as well as images of Michael Jackson, Donald Trump, and Epstein himself from his personal collection.

Some of the documents also concern Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking and exploitation of minors.

A law signed by Donald Trump last month allows the publication of grand jury materials and other case documents while protecting confidential information and details that could compromise ongoing investigations. The new releases are expected to shed light on Epstein’s connections in politics, finance, and media, as well as the actions of federal authorities over many years.

Trump himself is not implicated in any criminal cases related to Epstein and maintains that he severed ties with the financier long before his arrest.

Jeffrey Epstein case

On December 10, a US court ruled to allow the release of investigation materials related to Jeffrey Epstein, following the adoption of the Epstein File Transparency Act.

Previously, the investigation documents were considered permanently sealed. In August, the court rejected a request from the Department of Justice to make them public.

However, due to the Epstein File Transparency Act and growing public interest in Epstein’s connections with influential figures, the question of releasing the documents became pressing.

The investigations into Maxwell and Epstein reveal a systematic sex trafficking operation involving minors and highlight the role of the judicial system in uncovering the details of these crimes.

Recent court decisions are expected to significantly expand transparency and public oversight of such cases.

Earlier reports noted the scandal surrounding Epstein in the US. Newly released documents contain numerous references to former President Donald Trump.

Epstein was known not only as a billionaire but also as the operator of Epstein Island, a luxurious private estate where, according to investigators, wealthy and prominent individuals, including Trump, allegedly used underage sexual services.

The case began in 2005. The investigation identified more than 50 minors who received money from the billionaire in exchange for sexual services between 2002 and 2005.

Epstein died in federal custody in 2019, with the official cause listed as suicide. However, the circumstances of his death remain mysterious, and some theories suggest he may have been killed due to the dangerous knowledge he possessed.
