US lawmakers have reportedly suggested that Ukraine transfer rights to half of its mineral reserves. This initiative was presented to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Washington Post correspondent Josh Rogin.

"Multiple lawmakers here in Munich told me the US Congressional delegation presented Zelenskyy with a piece of paper they wanted him to sign which would grant the US rights to 50% of Ukraine’s future mineral reserves. Zelenskyy politely declined to sign it," Rogin wrote.

This information has not been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Presidential Office, following talks between Zelenskyy and US Vice President J.D. Vance, stated that Ukrainian and American teams agreed to continue working on a document outlining the economic partnership between the two countries. No further details were disclosed.

Ukraine-US partnership agreement

On February 12, it was reported that during his visit to Kyiv, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent presented Ukrainian officials with a draft economic partnership agreement. The document focused on Ukraine's natural resources.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that the agreement could be signed during the Munich Security Conference, held from February 14 to 16.

The US Treasury Secretary assured that the deal would serve as a long-term security shield for Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, on February 14, members of the Ukrainian delegation in Munich told RBC-Ukraine that Ukraine had finalized the draft agreement and submitted it for review by the US side.
