On Sunday, US President Donald Trump stated that his administration had planned a series of meetings and negotiations, including with Ukraine, Russia, and various parties, reports CNN.

"We’re dealing with Ukraine and Russia, we have meetings and talks scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia," he told reporters.

CNN notes that Trump's comments came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's advisor, Dmytro Lytvyn, called for a deeper approach from Kyiv's allies to address the issue.

The remarks followed recent comments by Trump's Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg. In an interview with Reuters, he stated that the US wants elections to be held in Ukraine by the end of the year, particularly if a ceasefire with Russia is reached in the coming months.

In response, Zelenskyy's advisor Lytvyn said Kellogg's plan would fail if it only involved a ceasefire and elections.

"In response to Reuters' question regarding Mr. Kellogg's remarks on the ceasefire and elections - We haven’t seen Mr. Kellogg’s full interview, only a few quotes about the elections, so it’s hard to fully assess his position. But if his plan is just a ceasefire and elections, it is a failed plan - Putin won’t be intimidated by just those two things," Lytvyn wrote on social media platform X.
